The eddi is a smart energy redirector that sends your excess solar power to your water heater or heating system instead of selling it back to the grid for next to nothing. That way, you can heat your water with your own green energy—using the water heater you already have.

What does an energy distributor do?

If your solar panels generate more power than your home is currently using, a surplus is created. Instead of feeding that surplus back into the grid, the eddi directs it to a heating element. Every kilowatt-hour that goes to your water heater is one you don’t have to purchase at a high cost from the grid.

You don't need a special water heater. The eddi works with any resistive heating element: an electric water heater, a convection heater, electric floor heating, or a pool heater. It's ideal if you want to make your current system smart without replacing everything.

Precise Redirection with VariSine™ Technology

The eddi continuously measures your import and export via CT sensors and adjusts the power to your water heater with an accuracy of 0.1%. This way, it uses your surplus precisely, staying well within grid standards—no more and no less.

Always Have Hot Water with Boost and Schedules

No sun right now, but still need hot water? With Manual Boost, you can temporarily heat water at full power. Use the Boost Timer to set specific times, such as in the morning during off-peak hours. That way, you’ll always have hot water when you need it.

Single-phase or 3-phase: eddi and eddi+

Not directly. However, using a relay, the eddi can signal when there is excess energy, for example, for a heat pump.

Can I use the eddi with a home battery?
Yes. When used with a libbi, you can set priorities in the app—for example, charge the battery first and then send any remaining surplus to the water heater.
