To mark the start of the new ’23/24 EFL League Two season, Grimsby Town FC and myenergi have once again collaborated to launch the mygrimsby fund. The initiative will see local programmes benefit from financial support to help them drive an even greater social impact.
Split into three key areas of support: social (activities that promote or address the interests of those in need within the local community), environmental (projects or programmes that protect the environment) and economic (groups and enterprises that promote development), the fund aims to celebrate the hard work of individuals, businesses and charities across North-East Lincolnshire.
A total of six beneficiaries will be chosen – two from each key area of support – and invited to promote their initiative at select home games throughout the season. The funding aims to support a more inclusive society for residents and can be used to expand reach, enhance facilities, improve infrastructure or simply maintain the provision of services.
Jason Stockwood, the Chair of Grimsby Town FC, commented: “When we took over the club in 2021, we had the vision of bringing the community closer together – a cause that everyone could get behind. Reaching the quarter finals of the FA Cup last season proved what Grimsby really meant to our players and supporters.
“In partnership with myenergi, our main shirt sponsor for the second season running, rolling out the mygrimsby fund will help to support the businesses that need it the most. We’re looking forward to celebrating their successes, expanding their activities and helping to create a platform for the future – a greater Grimsby and a tighter community.”
Jordan Brompton, co-founder and CMO of myenergi, added: “It was an absolute privilege to spearhead the mygrimsby fund in 2022 and we’re looking forward to accelerating its momentum this season too. Providing financial support to underfunded local initiatives has helped to really build a sense of teamwork, collaboration and support in the local area, bringing people together and helping to grow the community feel that we all know and love.
“As proud Grimbarians, we’re committed to bringing the town closer together. What makes Grimsby great is the sense of pride that you get from each and every resident – we want to support this, grow this and see Grimsby thrive. It might not be much, but the mygrimsby fund is just one way that we’re looking to give back to the local community that we owe so much.”
