Fleet drivers with a zappi charger at home can now get accurate, automatic reimbursement for the energy they use, and businesses get a simpler way to manage the cost of it. Here’s how our new partnership with Rightcharge works, and what it means for fleets.

How the zappi and Rightcharge partnership works

zappi already works with more smart tariffs than any other EV charger in the UK. Now, paired with Rightcharge, home and public charging costs come together in one HMRC-compliant monthly bill too.

Drivers are reimbursed automatically and accurately for home charging, based on the energy they actually use and their own domestic tariff, no estimates, no guesswork. Rightcharge verifies the charging session, so fleets can be confident that reimbursement matches the company vehicle being charged.

Why home charging beats public charging for fleets

We built this partnership to remove the friction that often pushes drivers towards more expensive public charging. Rapid public charging can cost more than 60p per kilowatt hour (kWh), while the same energy at home on some smart tariffs can be closer to 7p per kWh. Making home charging simpler and easier to reimburse gives fleets a stronger incentive to make the most of that saving, and gives drivers more freedom to choose the tariff that works for them.

More choice for drivers, more confidence for fleet operators

For fleets using Rightcharge, home and public charging costs come together in one monthly bill compliant with His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) requirements, so fleet teams can see and manage charging across their vehicles in one place.

Rightcharge also uses vehicle integrations to confirm that the vehicle being charged is the company vehicle, giving businesses confidence they’re reimbursing the right charging activity.

And because zappi works with more smart tariffs than any other EV charger in the UK, drivers get greater freedom over their energy provider and tariff, and more opportunities to access lower-cost charging.

The bigger picture: smart tariffs, batteries and Gridpay

This is part of our wider approach to connected home energy. Link EV charging with smart tariffs and technologies like batteries, and drivers can make greater use of cheaper electricity while helping reduce demand on the grid at its busiest times. It also supports Rightcharge’s own integrations with energy suppliers, which use each driver’s live tariff data so reimbursement always reflects what they actually paid.
