Curious about charging at home? We’ve answered some of the most common questions to help you get started. No jargon, just the facts.
It depends on your setup. A 7kW charger is perfect for most homes and will fully charge a typical EV overnight. A 22kW charger is faster, but you’ll need a three-phase electricity supply, and not all houses have one. zappi is a ‘multiphase’ charger, so it does both!
Not always, but it helps. You’ll need safe, off-street parking close to where the charger can be installed. If you don’t have a driveway, things get a bit more complicated, especially if cables would cross a public path. It’s best to chat to an installer before making any decisions.
Most home charger installations take just a few hours. Our installers typically complete everything in one day, from fitting the unit to testing it and showing you how it works. If your home needs extra electrical work, it might take a little longer, but we’ll always let you know upfront.
Not usually. Most homes won’t need a full rewire, but your installer may recommend small upgrades – like a dedicated circuit or a new consumer unit, just to make sure everything runs safely and smoothly. We’ll assess all of that before installation, so there are no surprises.
