But don’t worry, if you don’t have solar panels installed, the zappi will still operate as a standard EV charger harnessing power from the grid.

FAQs
Do I need solar panels to use the zappi charger?
No. The zappi works perfectly without solar panels. It can charge your electric vehicle using mains electricity but is also compatible with solar energy if available.
Is the zappi eligible for the SEAI home charger grant?
Yes. The zappi is approved for the SEAI grant in Ireland. You can claim up to €300 back when it is installed by a registered installer.
What is the difference between tethered and untethered models?
The tethered model comes with a built-in charging cable. The untethered version has a socket, so you can use your own cable for greater flexibility.
