That\u2019s right, when construction is completed in early 2020, the highly anticipated Hornsea One will provide clean electricity to 1 million UK homes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Spanning over 400 square kilometres, Hornsea One is positioned just off the Hull and Grimsby coast, not too far away from myenergi HQ.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What you need to know about Hornsea One OffShore Wind Farm:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hornsea One will feature 174 wind turbines<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each wind turbine will stand at 190m tall, making it over twice the size of Grimsby Dock Tower and 35m taller than the Humber Bridge\u2019s towers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The blades of the turbines have a circumference of 75 metres.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hornsea One will provide power to over one million UK homes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The structure includes the longest ever powerline (900km cable route).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It has a power capacity of 1.2 GW.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When was Hornsea One announced?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Work has been ongoing on the Hornsea One construction for the last few years, with initial plans from Orsted stemming back to 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Orsted are the Danish renewable energy company in charge of the project. Their mission, much like ours, is to \u201ccreate a world that runs entirely on green energy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When will Hornsea One be completed?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hornsea One is set for completion in Q1 of 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/orsted.com\/en\/About-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Orsted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> do know a thing or two about this sort of project, having invested \u00a312 billion in the sector, creating 25 offshore wind farms across the globe!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Why is more money being invested in offshore wind farms?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In March 2019, the UK government pledged to provide a third of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/offshore-wind-energy-revolution-to-provide-a-third-of-all-uk-electricity-by-2030\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">all UK electricity via offshore wind farms by 2030<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. This promise was \u201cpart of the government\u2019s ambition to make the UK a global leader in renewables with more investment potential than any other country in the world\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Countries all over the world are looking to cut down their emissions and focus on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/myenergi.com\/ie\/2019\/08\/19\/top-5-reasons-to-use-renewable-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">renewable energy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
