Using this type of charger can be both costly and could take up to 50 hours to fully charge.

Typically, owners opt for purchasing a Type 2 charger, which speeds this process up considerably. The WV ID 4 is equipped with a Type 2 connector for charging, which can be used at home, work, or public charging points across the Ireland.

Can I charge the Škoda Enyaq 4 at home?

Yes! Similar to many electric vehicles, the Škoda Enyaq comes equipped with a standard type 2 charger included with every model.

Using the supplied charger and a standard 3 pin-plug at home, you would need to wait around 39 hours for a full charge. Which I am sure we can all agree is not the most convenient amount of time.

However, using a 7kW home EV charger will see this time dramatically reduced to just under 9 hours. The Škoda Enyaq is also compatible with rapid chargers (like the Tesla Supercharger) which will see your charging time reduced again to as little as 30minutes to an hour!

It should be noted that these rapid chargers can cost more to use and they will also cause additional degradation to your battery if they become your preferred charging method. Opting for a smart home charger, like zappi is the best way to ensure consistent charging and to ensure longevity in your battery life.

Where is the charging port on the Škoda Enyaq?

The charging socket on the Škoda Enyaq is in the exact same place as you would expect to find a fuel cap on a standard petrol or diesel car. Located on the rear of the car on the drivers side.

You can simply apply some pressure on the plastic lid and it’ll pop open revealing a charging port. Insert the cable and you’re ready to go.

Of course you’ll need to ensure the car is switched off, as it won’t allow charging otherwise. It is also not safe to charge the Škoda Enyaq in a contained space, like a garage, which is why it’s best to have your home charger installed on to an outside wall.

How much does it cost to charge the Škoda Enyaq?

The cost of charging any EV always depends on a number of factors. From the type of charger used, location, and setting used. For example, rapid charging will typically cost more than eco charging done off-peak and home charging is nearly always cheaper than public charging points.

However, if you’re looking to calculate the average cost of charging your Škoda Enyaq at home, this is around €22 from empty to full based on average electric costs in Ireland. It should be noted, that it’s unlikely you’ll need to ever charge your battery 100% as it’s recommended to keep your battery between 10% and 80% to ensure optimum battery health.

You can also reduce the cost of home charging further by utilising a smart EV charger which can work with your home solar panels to offer even cleaner charging. If your home doesn’t have solar panels, you can also opt for flexible enegery tarrifs and plan your charging during off peak times.

What is the range on the Škoda Enyaq?

The range on the Škoda Enyaq is dependent on the model and battery size. An entry level model, with a 60kWh battery, has an average range of 240 miles and the top end model, with a an 80kWh battery, has an average range of 330 miles.

As with all electric vehicles, the range is dependent on many factors including your driving style, road condition and even the weather. So someone who does a lot of city driving in mild weather will get more range than someone who drives the motorways in the cold.

How long does it take to charge the Škoda Enyaq?

The time it takes to charge the Škoda Enyaq is based on a number of different factors from the type of charger used to the location.
